STEINWAY–STEINWAY – B

1866 was the year Steinway really became STEINWAY. Two of the brothers died in 1865 and Christian Friedrich Theodor Steinweg, anglicized name C .F. Theodore Steinway became the technical genius leader of the Company. There is a belief that C.F. Theodore was the true father of the modern piano, responsible for the majority of patents and innovations. By 1876 Steinway and Sons was established as a world leader winning Gold Medals in international competitions. After 10 years of innovations and improvements, 1876 was truly the year that could be considered their greatest. Check out this 1876 Steinway..

KIMBALL–KIMBALL – 5860

This appears to be a 1986 piano. The polished ebony finish appears to be part of the Viennese Edition. This was near the end of the Kimball grand pianos in 1996 and during what I believe to be the best of the Kimball product.

For years the Baldwin model R was a favorite piano for piano teachers. With the longer 5'8" length you get a richer base. Often thought as a comparable to the Steinway 5'7" model M.
BALDWIN–BALDWIN-243

The Baldwin model 243 was the leading school piano for decades because of its strong bones. Easy access with front lift, and the best pin block out there to hold the tuning. Big open sound.

BALDWIN–BALDWIN – M

The Baldwin model M 5'2" baby grand piano is one of the finest American made baby grand pianos. Much like the Steinway S, the Baldwin has a richer, truer tone in the bass. It was a top-tier piano and this instrument comes from a time when Baldwin was the #1 manufacturer of pianos in the United States. This instrument has a high end soundboard which produces a rich, singing tone that sustains longer than some concert grand pianos! The action is smooth and even. This piano has duplex scaling which enhances the tone by allowing non-speaking length of the strings to sympathetically vibrate. It has been regulated and voiced to a concert level of performance. There are very few pianos of this size in the world that produce such a rich tone. The instrument was crafted at an excellent period in Baldwin’s rich history.
